Illustrations 1-10

Valentine

2015.02.15 – Clip Studio Paint
Artist Comment: For Valentine’s Day. Jocelyn is holding on to Remi’s… Is he giving it to Remi or did he steal it? I think by this point I had switched from Photoshop to CSP, based on the brushes used for the background.

Mistletoe

2014.12.25 – Adobe Photoshop
Artist Comment: Drawn for Christmas, obviously. I like like taking advantage of Thanatos’ design to make alternate colored variants.

Stray Cat ~Lost Child~

2014.07.03 – Adobe Photoshop
Artist Comment: Chapter 1 title illustration. For this picture I actually lost the high-res version of the human variation, so this picture has been upscaled.

Skye Design

2015.09.26 – Adobe Photoshop
Artist Comment: The character sheet for Skye. I drew this a bit later than the rest. I went back and forth on her colors a lot, then despite all my wavering once it came to the full color comic I ended up going back to a brighter cherry red instead of the orange one here. I also changed her clip to a clover.

Pandora Design

2014.04.30 – Adobe Photoshop
Artist Comment: The character sheet for Pandora. Her necklace was based on a real one that my grandmother used to own, that sadly went missing a long time ago. So Pandora gets to wear it instead, for eternity.

Qi’nya Design

2014.03.09 – Adobe Photoshop
Artist Comment: The character sheet for Qi’nya. Ever since I played Magna Carta I’ve been obsessed with pants that show off the male hips lol. He hasn’t changed much since his original design, I think I just changed the outfit colors a bit… Much like Jocelyn, his skin in the actual series is difficult to get right because of the overlay layer. To balance it, the base color is now a mysterious greenish brown.

Jocelyn Design

2014.03.03 – Adobe Photoshop
Artist Comment: The character sheet for Jocelyn. Jocelyn’s image has been set in stone since the very beginning, not much has changed about it. His skin has gotten a bit more brown, I think. I have a hard time with his skin in the comic because of the overlay layer, so I’m constantly going back and forth over what shade to use.

Remiel Design

2014.02.05 – Adobe Photoshop
Artist Comment: The character sheet for Remiel. Originally he was supposed to have pale blue eyes but they’ve started to trend towards violet. His hair was also supposed to be lighter and more yellow then human Thanatos, but to speed things up they’ve become the same shade of blonde.

Thanatos Design

2014.01.16 – Adobe Photoshop
Artist Comment: The character sheet for Thanatos. This isn’t the first character design for Thanatos, but it was the one I used when I started the current Paradise. Ironically, thanks to the various overlay layers I use, the base colors aren’t even accurate anymore. Thanatos’ default outfit for the longest time was the white trench coat, but when I decided to give them different outfits for each day, it fell by the wayside… Maybe I’ll find a chance to sneak it in one of these chapters.

Blood Lust

2013.03.24 – Adobe Photoshop
Artist Notes: For a lot of these pictures, I only have backups of backups. I went through some old social media to try and place when they were created, but this method relies on me posting the same day I finished… Anyway, this is one of the first pictures I drew when I had finalized the current conception of Paradise. I wanted to draw something that had the feel of “vampire” with the blood, since at the time I hadn’t really drawn that many like that.
